3 Fun Game Props You Can Bet During March Madness

If you’re interested in participating in March Madness but don’t want to bet the typical moneyline, spread and totals, I’ve got some solutions for you.

There are plenty of game props on the NCAAB betting sites. These types of bets aren’t dependent on the final outcome of the game. Instead, you have the potential to win a prop bet in the middle of a game.

We’ll go over a few fun props that will keep you biting your nails and cheering with excitement when your handicap works in your favor.

Let’s get to it!

Yes or No Bets

There are many game props where there are odds for “Yes” and “No”. One sports bet could be whether a game goes into overtime. The odds will likely be -5000 for no but +1500 for yes.

During March Madness, we all live for overtime games. Typically you’ll get a couple a year. If you pick the right one, you can have a major payday.

These aren’t the most profitable bets. Still, for a couple of bucks with your friends, it could be really fun rooting for overtime in some 5-versus-12 matchup in the first round.

First Team to Score X Amount of Points

Other fun props include betting on the team to reach a certain amount of points first.

If you handicap and research a game and recognize that one team gets off to hotter starts than the other, you can bet one team to reach 10 points before the other team. It’s usually worded like, “Which Team Will Be The First To Score 10 Points?” Then, you’d pick the team and the odds associated with it.

You can bet these props at 10 points or even 50 points. Wherever you see the best fit for your wager.

If you’re looking for a quick sweat, you’d go after the 10-point prop. Within the first five minutes of the game, you might already know if you won or lost.

A Team’s Point Total

Sometimes, you just want to root for one side and not care about the other team. There are props that allow you to bet on the total points for a specific team in the game. Instead of betting on the Over and Under of the entire game, you can bet on the total for one team in the whole game or just the first or second half.

It’s just like a total bet, but it’s for one team. There’s still some correlation here. If one team plays slow, it’s going to slow down the team you’re looking to bet offensively. Therefore, you still need to take into account both sides. However, sometimes you just have a better read on one team than the other.

Keep in mind that these prop bets aren’t typically up on sportsbooks until after the spread, total and moneyline have been up for a little bit. You won’t be able to find some crazy value due to a mistake on the betting board early when the lines are posted.

The sportsbooks like to get a feel for where the market is before posting these types of props. However, that doesn’t mean you won’t find value. There’s still plenty of value out there. Lines will still change and move around before the tip-off. You’re just unlikely to get a crazy line like some sharps do when markets just open up with the spread and total.

Again, the numbers will still change, especially in March Madness with so much action on these games. This is why it’s important to wager your action as soon as you can. Chances are other people see the game the same way as you. Therefore, that bet you want to make will likely see an increase in price or an entire number change.

If you get in early, you’ll have an expected value play with a profitable number. If you don’t, you’ll be stuck with a worse number or odds that aren’t nearly as good of a payout because you waited.

Trust your knowledge and research. You won’t always be right, but if you give legitimate thought and research into your analysis, you’ll be well on your way to making money with these fun game props.
