On most weeks, the PGA Tour event will start on a Thursday and run until a Sunday over four rounds. There is a cut after 36 holes leaving the top 65 and ties to play over the weekend rounds of 3 and 4.

With so much action going on over four days, it’s easy to understand why the top offshore sportsbooks offer bets more in a great number of markets, beyond just the outright winner. Let’s take a look at some

Tournament Winner – Outright

The tournament winner or Outright market as it is better known, is the most popular one for bettors. The favorite in this market is often between (+800) and (+1000) but with 150+ players often competing, there are occasionally winners priced at (+50000) or above. Certain players play better when in contention and are proven winners in the sport, those are the ones to concentrate on in this market. The winner of the market is the lowest score after 72 holes.

Place Bets – Top 5, Top 10 and Top 20

Place bets usually encompass three markets – top 5, top 10 and top 20. Occasionally Betting Sites offer the option to bet on the top 40. As a bettor, when studying form, you will notice some players barely or never win a PGA event in their careers. But they can be ultra-consistent, and it makes huge sense to wager them in the place markets at courses known to suit them. For example, if you took a top-5 finish, your player needs to finish with one of the top 5 lowest scores after 72-holes. (dead heat rules may apply)

Two Ball and Three Ball Bets

Three ball bets are predominantly available in rounds 1 and 2, occasionally round 4 if inclement weather is forecast. (dead heat rules may apply)

Match Bets

Match bets are contested over 18 or 72 holes. Be careful to check which one applies to your bets. (dead heat rules may apply)

Make the Cut

Prices are available on players to make the cut usually at minus money and limited to the sport’s leading players. Settled after 36-hole cut.

Miss the Cut

Similarly, prices are available on those same players to miss the cut and the prices are bigger, usually at plus money. Settled after 36-hole cut.

First Round Leader

This market has become very popular because bettors have learned that certain golfers start their weeks fast and petter out. There are also weather conditions to use for bettors when the forecast is changeable. The winner of the market is the lowest score at the end of 18 holes. (dead heat rules may apply)

End of Round Leader

Increasing in popularity are the end-of-round leader markets available after rounds 2 and 3. They are settled like the First-round leader market but with the lowest score at the end of the stated round. (dead heat rules may apply)

Top Nationality & Speciality Markets

Individual Top Nationality and specialty markets are available such as, Top America, Top left-hander, Top Amateur, Top Senior and all other nationalities that are competing where there are multiple players to choose from. Settled by the lowest score from each category after 72-holes (dead heat rules may apply)

In-Play Betting

The outright tournament winner is available throughout the event whether between rounds or during play, at sportsbooks.

Ante-post bets – available all year long

FedEx Cup

The PGA Tour season ends with the FedEx Cup winner after the Tour Championship, and you can bet on the winner all year long.

Major Championships

Betting is available all year round about golf’s four major championships:

  1. U.S. Masters – Second week in April every year the only major set at the same course each year, the Augusta National, Georgia.
  2. PGA Championship – Played in May at a rotation of courses.
  3. U.S. Open – Also played at a rotation of courses that are notoriously set up extremely tough
  4. Open Championship – Set in Great Britain and the sport’s oldest major.

The Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup are the sport’s biggest team Competitions set between the United States and Europe bi-annually and the betting market is available all year.

Often available throughout the year are individual players prices to make the Ryder Cup Team.

Dead Heat Rules: If more than one player is tied in the winning positions of any bets, they may be subject to dead heat rules applying. Take time to read each sportsbook’s terms and conditions.
