Jake Paul might be renowned for his controversial approach to promoting his boxing events, but he wouldn’t have what it takes to enter the ring without the correct training and regimen.
There is a reason why the top boxing betting sites offer odds for his fights so join us as we take a closer look at Paul’s training regimen, from his daily routine to the preparation of his fights and what the most influential YouTuber boxer has practiced to stay in fighting shape.
Jake Paul: Fighting Fit
With eight fights to his name, Jake Paul has collected seven wins and six knockouts. Brother of the heavyweight boxing icon Tyson Fury, Tommy, was the only opponent of Paul who managed to snap his win streak. But when it comes to training, it’s quite impressive how the 26-year-old maintains fitness and flatlines MMA athletes, all while handling various business ventures and his celebrity.
Emulating Mayweather
Paul has been known to emulate the training schedule of Floyd “Money” Mayweather, with late sparring sessions lasting until nighttime to create a similar scenario as the time he’ll compete on the actual fight night.
When discussing his daily routine, Paul said:
“I get lots of sleep; I usually wake up around 1 p.m. We train a lot at night. We spar at night. We try to mimic fight night. Waking up and doing some kind of workout at night if I’m not sparring at night. That could be mitts, shadow boxing, and then we do abs and go for a jog or weight training. Then, its recovery, I have a stretch therapist. Then I go into a red-light bed. Then I come home, drink protein, go into the ice bath, then the hot tub, and back to the ice bath.
Jake Paul: The Diet
When Paul was scheduled to face MMA legend Anderson Silva, cutting weight would never be simple. He was forced to cut down to 186lbs, the lowest Paul had ever weighed during his boxing career at the time. However, while training is imperative, the diet was a huge factor in his efforts.
“Breakfast is just an omelet with one piece of toast. Sometimes, I’ll skip lunch. I’m not really a big lunch person. It makes me tired, and that makes me drop in weight. I usually have a snack and some fruit, and the snack is a high in fiber protein bar. Dinner is chicken or steak with quinoa or quinoa with fish. Not a lot of carbs.”
Jake Paul: Adapting After a Loss
Once Tommy Fury handed Paul his first career loss, despite it being a closely fought split decision, the YouTuber-turned-boxer should be commendable for the changes he wanted to implement ahead of his comeback bout versus former top-ranked UFC welterweight Nate Diaz.
This time, the focus wasn’t heavily swayed toward fitness, strength, and general wellbeing, but more so the boxing fundamentals he lacked. With such a small amount of experience in the sport, a return to the drawing board was necessary.
Learning from the loss, both physically and mentally, was important, and a self-proclaimed advancement in his maturity was one of the primary reasons why Paul believed his dominant win over Diaz came to fruition.
Jake Paul’s Next Training Camp
As Paul continues his boxing journey, one thing is certain: he isn’t competing for money, and we should recognize this as a hunger to compete and train driven purely by passion.
