To profit from this college basketball season live betting, you will want to read these strategies for the 2023-’24 season.

This style of betting can get very overwhelming. A lot of things could be corrected while trying this method. To avoid these mistakes and earn some cash at the best NCAAB betting sites, read these tips for in-game wagering below.

Trust Your Gut!

You can’t second guess yourself. Throw away the analytics from the start of the game. If you believe you see something on the court that you can take advantage of, trust your gut.

A player on the opposition got injured, and you want to bet against them because of it.

Or maybe one team is struggling to shoot the ball, and you think they’ll continue to struggle from the field.

Attack those angles. Don’t overthink it. If you wait to bet your thoughts and the line grows and increases, you will have regrets.

I’m 100% someone who suggests researching a game before the game starts. However, not every game will align with your analysis. Those who can adjust their thinking to what’s happening in the game typically win more.

Just believe in yourself!

Don’t Bet During Live Action!

Basketball is a fast-paced game with no breaks until timeout. Don’t bet during the game. Wait for that commercial. Don’t even consider betting on a foul shot. The TV is still more delayed than the sportsbook.

You don’t want to bet on a team and get a poor line because the other team scored while you were placing a bet.

The same goes for the total of the game. You don’t want to take an Over, and then, as you’re clicking it, the team misses a shot to push the line down on the total.

You always want to take your time with a bet. You’re betting hard-earned money. Make sure you consider all angles and not the concrete information before making a bet.

Things to consider include:

  • How many timeouts a team has?
  • The foul trouble a team is in.
  • Which players are in foul trouble?
  • Who is shooting at a hot rate?
  • Different matchups on the court when bench players are in.

Therefore, don’t consider betting anything until the play is stopped and the game goes into an official timeout.

Don’t even bet with a 30-second timeout. You probably don’t have enough time then, either.

Have Multiple Sports Books

Getting the right lines matter. Many of the best offshore sportsbooks have live odds for these games. Make sure to check those odds and find the sportsbook with the best odds.

You don’t want to get caught backing a team at -110 odds on the moneyline when another sportsbook has them at +110.

Let’s say you want Villanova on the moneyline in the second half. One sportsbook is sitting at +120, while another is at +115, and another is +110.

By taking the +120, you will save money long-term.

If you put $100 on +110, if you won, your payout would be $210.

On +115, your payout would be $215 if won, giving you $5 on the same bet.

Finally, at +120, the payout would be $220 if the bet won. That’s $10 from the +110 odds and $5 more than the +115 odds.

Why would you sell yourself short and take the +110 bet when you can get the +120 bet? That’s $10 extra.

Therefore, you need to make sure that you have multiple sportsbooks that you can use to find the best odds and lines for your bets. Don’t leave money on the table.

If you see a sale in the supermarket, you won’t pay full price for that product. Why would you pay more for something on sale in the sportsbook?

Having a lot of sportsbooks with college basketball lines is crucial to your success this season in live betting.

Middling & Hedging

If you’re an advanced sports bettor, you might want to consider hedging and middling.

You can take a pre-game wager and then guarantee money later in the game.

Let’s say you take the UConn Huskies at -10 in a game against the Creighton BlueJays. If UConn dominates and Creighton struggles, the live odds would eventually have UConn sitting at -20, while Creighton would be +20.

If you grab +20 for Creighton, you can win both wagers, with UConn defeating Creighton by 11-19 in this example.

If only one side wins, at -110 on both sides, you’d only have a slight loss. But it’s a risk to take, knowing you can win both sides of your bet.
