Originally scheduled for July 20 but now postponed, November 15 will see the 57-year-old Tyson face off against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The above sentence sends shivers down my spine, and it’s not because I’m excited to see the return of ‘Iron’ Mike. Like most, it’s disgruntling to imagine the egotistical nonsense Jake Paul will spew if he can find success over such a legend.

Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson: Fighter Previews
‘Iron’ Mike Tyson
- Pro Record: 56-5-2
- Knockouts: 44
Mike Tyson, a former heavyweight champion and one of the most iconic legends in sports history, is stepping out of retirement to fight Paul, presumably for the money. However, it’s been over twenty years since Tyson last fought, and he’ll enter the fight as a 58-year-old man.
Kevin McBride was Tyson’s final opponent in a pro boxing bout on June 6, 2005. After the sixth round, the referee stopped the fight and gave McBride the win by corner retirement. On February 22, 2003, Tyson defeated Clifford Etienne by knockout, marking his most recent triumph in the ring. In retrospect, Paul had just turned six years old at the time of Tyson’s last in-ring victory.

Jake ‘The Problem Child’ Paul
- Pro Record: 9-1-0
- Knockouts: 6
Paul’s knockout victory against Ryan Bourland on March 2 was his most recent success, and it was his sixth KO/TKO overall. It was his third consecutive victory, and his record in boxing rose to 9-1. Tommy Fury was Paul’s only opponent, and he lost, ending in a split decision on February 26, 2023. Andre August and former UFC fighter Nate Diaz are among the opponents he has defeated since then, but per usual, we take his seriousness with a pinch of salt.
Jake Paul and his team have found a way to manipulate the sport. He’s what we’d call an aging bully; it’s that simple. The lone time Paul fought an experienced boxer of a similar size and age, he was outclassed and exposed, whereas every win on his record has been against former MMA fighters aged 38 and over. As for the boxers he’s defeated, they’re also semi-retired, in their mid-thirties, and were noticeably referred to as ‘cans’ by the boxing community.
With that said, you must respect the hustle. He’s been in non-stop training for five years, and while we know he’ll never skip the queue on legitimate boxers with 15-plus years of experience in the sport, he’s unquestionably put a spotlight on boxing. It’s a shame that he’s now targeting a legendary boxer reaching his sixties.

Given the anticipated excitement in the Netflix-streamed bout, we’re guaranteed to see other betting markets included as the fight approaches. Boxing enthusiasts will have the opportunity to place bets on several aspects of the contest, including the likelihood of a knockout, the duration of the fight in terms of rounds, and if the fight will reach the final bell.
The current delay in adding these markets is due to significant ambiguity about the precise regulations that will govern the fight. Boxing rumors suggested that the bout would involve headgear or potentially be an exhibition bout. However, trusted combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani put those rumors to bed when he shared information stating that both Paul and Tyson want the fight to be an officially sanctioned heavyweight bout.
Ariel Helwani says based on the conversations he’s had,
– They want Tyson/Paul to be a pro bout, but that’s up to the commission.
– It will be a heavyweight bout.
– Rounds still to be decided.
– There will be no head gear.#TheMMAHour pic.twitter.com/cpcEO1o57Y
