The prolonged and agonizing wait regarding the UFC 300 main event has finally concluded, as Dana White made the huge announcement following last week’s UFC 298 pay-per-view in Anaheim, California.
The recently crowned 205-pound Brazilian brute and former middleweight titleholder, Alex Pereira, will close out the most highly anticipated MMA event of the last decade versus Jamahal Hill, a man who was forced to relinquish the light-heavyweight strap due to an injury.
I’d first like to note there wasn’t a worse time to announce the UFC 300 main event. We’d just witnessed the knockout loss of Alexander Volkanovski, one of the most likable personalities in MMA today, in his title defense to Ilia Topuria (Congrats, BTW).
However, now that the UFC news dust has settled and our tears have dried, the landmark event on April 13, 2024, looks dope, and although the casual MMA fans are complaining, per usual, the UFC die-hards know exactly what we have on our hands.
Let’s see what’s in store for UFC bettors and fans alike.
UFC 300 Main Card Schedule
- Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill (UFC Light Heavyweight Title Bout)
- Weili Zhang vs. Xiaonan Yan (UFC Women’s Strawweight Title Bout)
- Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway (UFC BMF Title Bout)
- Jiri Prochazka vs. Aleksandar Rakic (UFC Light Heavyweight Bout)
- Calvin Kattar vs. Aljamain Sterling (UFC Featherweight Bout)
- Charles Oliveira vs. Arman Tsarukyan (UFC Lightweight Bout)
Every single one of the aforementioned bouts is event-worthy, and it’s safe to say that alongside UFC 299, Q1 of 2024 is delivering one of the best years in mixed martial arts history.
UFC 300 Preliminary Card Schedule
But it doesn’t stop there, no, no. Just look at the UFC 300 preliminary line-up:
- Bo Nickal vs. Cody Brundage (UFC Middleweight Bout)
- Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Cody Garbrandt (UFC Bantamweight Bout)
- Bobby Green vs. Jim Miller (UFC Lightweight Bout)
- Holly Holm vs. Kayla Harrison (UFC Women’s Bantamweight Bout)
- Sodiq Yusuff vs. Diego Lopes (UFC Featherweight Bout)
- Jessica Andrade vs. Marina Rodriguez (UFC Women’s Strawweight Bout)
We have four former UFC champions, two legends who have a combined record of over 100 pro-MMA bouts on their record, one of the most highly touted middleweight prospects, and the debut of one of the most successful women’s competitors outside of the UFC, making her debut.
Those complaining about UFC 300 are lost, and I have no words for them. UFC 100 and UFC 200 pale in comparison to April’s stacked event.
The UFC 300 Main Event Wasn’t Dana White’s First Choice
Dana pushed for Leon Edwards to defend his welterweight championship at UFC 300. Unfortunately, nobody wanted that smoke. Three different options were presented to the fighting pride of Birmingham, England, and each of them refused.
Due to the timing of UFC 300, the event coincides with Ramadan, as speculations have since arisen that the likes of Shavkat Rakhmonov, Khamzat Chimaev, and Islam Makhachev would’ve likely been the three fights offered to Leon. However, as Muslims, it’s possible that the month of Ramadan, which involves fasting, would’ve been their reason to decline.
Dana White says Leon Edwards was offered three opponents for UFC 300 and said yes to all of them.

Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill: Expect Blood Shed
Between Alex Pereira, the man who’s claimed championships in two divisions with only seven UFC bouts on his record, and Jamahal Hill, who became the light heavyweight champ with the same number of fights, they boast a combined 14 knockouts during their respected professional careers as fans can expect nothing less than sheer violence in the UFC 300 main event.
Forget the wrestling; these two big boys will throw down, and we should expect a brutal knockout to cap off a night of elite-level fights to complete the most talent-rich fight card in MMA history.
Enjoy the hostilities, my friends!
