Editor’s Note: Mike Tyson will square off against Jake Paul on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The historic bout will be streamed by Netflix.
Could Mike Tyson step back into the squared circle for another boxing showdown? Sure, it’s no secret that he keeps in shape, and despite being 57 years old, age hasn’t stopped him in recent years. With that said, the real question is, “Will Mike Tyson get back in the ring in 2024?”
Unfortunately, for those of you looking to bet on a fight involving “Iron Mike” at the top boxing sportsbooks, we can only assume it’s an unlikely venture, especially regarding some of the rumors we’ve heard lately.

The last time “Iron Mike” was seen competing was during a 2020 exhibition bout versus Roy Jones Jr. From a professional standpoint, he hasn’t fought since a 2005 loss to Kevin McBride.
Following the Jones Jr clash at Triller Fight Club, Tyson has always been open to another exhibition. However, a fat cheque and the right opponent would need to surface.
We’ve seen the likes of Jake Paul call out Tyson, but the legend could never risk his legacy versus such an opponent, and we know Jakey loves to provoke aging fighters with diminished skills.
Tyson and another return are boxing rumors we can’t get away from. And now, former MMA heavyweight knockout artists Fedor Emelianenko and Mark Hunt have been reported as Tyson’s next opponents.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but these rumored bouts aren’t going to happen.
Tyson Boxing Rumors Debunked
Despite retiring from active competition following a knockout loss to Ryan Bader, Fedor showed interest in boxing Tyson in 2023. Then, in January 2024, Hunt entered the picture and was also linked to the “return” of ‘Iron Mike.’

Dreams and reality are two different entities, and although Fedor and Hunt have both expressed that boxing Tyson would be a dream come true, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up in either of these aforementioned bouts coming to fruition.
When talking to Chisanga Malata, one of Tyson’s representatives said: “Iron Mike won’t be facing Mark Hunt. Mr. Tyson hasn’t spoken to anyone in the Fedor camp either. He isn’t interested in fighting with him now or in the future.”
If you’re eagerly awaiting the in-ring return of the boxing legend, it’s best to reevaluate your desires and consider the fact that Tyson is on the brink of his sixties. Considering his age and the above statement, a comeback may never arise, and it certainly won’t involve MMA legends Hunt or Fedor.
